PMXNOW0300 is a single slot backplane compatible module that allows the M340/M580 processors to interface easily with the WiFi wireless network in order to communicate with devices located remotely.


It can be used either as access point to create the wireless network infrastructure, bridge to connect network equipments or even as repeater to extend the wireless network coverage.


The module offers point to point or point to multipoint communication schemes and supports all Ethernet based protocols including MODBUS/TCP & Ethernet/IP.


Thanks to its built-in WEB interface, the setup of the module is easily achieved using any web browser, module also offers SNMP and NDM (Network Device Manager) configuration and administration.

One port is reserved for the M340/M580 CPU or M340/M580 NOE connection.
When connected to the M340/M580 Ethernet port, PMXNOW0300 ports are considered as “Slave”.
If connected to the M340/M580 NOE Ethernet port instead, PMXNOW0300 ports are considered as “Master”, distributed I/O operation is then fully supported (I/O Scanner).

Compliant to the IEEE 802.11a/b/g/h 2.4 / 5 GHz standards, multi-country Roaming support (IEEE 802.11d); Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) support provides flexible selection of best frequency to allow mobility among existing networks; "ClearVoice" band provides non-overlapping channels for fast data transmission; Transmission Power Control (TPC) offers flexibility to adjust RF output power.

Wireless access to the M340 / M580 from VijeoCitect or UnityPro

  The M340 / M580 acts as a modbus-tcp server. VijeoCitect and UnityPro software are modbus-tcp clients. In that case the Ethernet port of the M340 / M580 CPU is connected to the PMXNOW0300 wireless module and there is no need for an extra BMX NOE in-chassis module.

  In this network architecture, we take the benefit of the embedded Ethernet switch capabilities of PMXNOW0300 to connect up to 3 x M340 / M580 PLCs together. There will be no need for an external Ethernet switch.

  In the use case pictured above we want to read and/or write some of the process data values both ways. We can use the READ_VAR / WRITE_VAR function blocks just like if both PLCs were connected on an Ethernet cable. We do not need any extra BMX NOE in chassis module.
